Bray Wanderers 3-2 Derry City

Ten-man Bray Wanderers came from behind to set up an FAI Ford Cup fourth round clash away to UCD.

Shane O'Neill was Wanderers' hero as they edged out Derry City in an entertaining third round replay at the Carlisle Grounds.

The First Division club appeared to have at least forced extra-time
when they equalised to make it 2-2 in the 75th minute.

Patrick McEleney unleashed a stunning 30-yard free that beat Brian Kane and flew in off the underside of the cross-bar.

However, their joy was short-lived.

Colm Tresson strode forward, beat an opponent and then rode another tackle. The veteran then showed all his experienced to play a sublime pass to release O'Neill. The 21-year-old ghosted between two defenders on the left side of the box to angle a low finish into the far bottom corner of the net.

Having had the better of the exchanges, the visitors deservedly took a 29th minute lead.

James McClean whipped over a cross from the right wing and Vincent Sweeney nodded on for Darren Cassidy to volley across Brian Kane and in off the far post.

The Seagulls were level five minutes later through a disputed penalty.

Emmet Friars headed clear a corner but the ball was sent back towards the danger zone. Thomas McBride barged through the back of Tresson on the line of the 18-yard area, with referee Neil Doyle awarding a spot-kick. Jake Kelly made no mistake from 12-yards as he registered his sixth of the campaign.

The Candystripes went close to going back in front in the 51st minute.

Patrick McEleney's reverse ball released Cassidy in behind Shane
O'Connor. But Kane stood up strong to make a fine block with his legs.

They were made to pay for that miss just 60 seconds later.

Dane Massey's cross was diverted into the path of O'Neill by a Derry defender. The young striker chested the ball into the box and flashed a fierce low half-volley past Gerard Doherty from 15 yards.

Massey was then stupidly sent off in the 63rd minute. Having earlier been booked for a foul, the defender ridiculously kicked the ball away as the away side were awarded a free-kick.
