West Ham express interest in David Beckham

West Ham United co-owner David Gold has admitted his club are considering an ambitious approach to sign England midfielder David Beckham.

Beckham is currently recovering from surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon that will rule him out of the World Cup in South Africa, but the LA Galaxy star is still keen to prolong his playing career and Gold believes he may be interested in a move to West Ham.

The 34-year-old was born not far from West Ham's Upton Park stadium in the east end of London and Gold feels the former Manchester United midfielder would be the perfect man to help revitalise the club.
