McDonald resigns from Glentoran

Glentoran have accepted the resignation of manager Alan McDonald with immediate effect.

McDonald informed the club's directors of his decision to leave after Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Dungannon Swifts.

McDonald led Glens to last season's Carling Premiership title but their form has been indifferent this campaign.

They currently stand one point behind leaders Linfield with the Blues possessing three games-in-hand on their bitter rivals.
