Murray makes debut in Rovers victory

Shamrock Rovers have signed former Cork City captain Dan Murray, and the towering centre-half made his Hoops' debut in Friday night's 1-0 victory over Shelbourne.

The 27-year-old defender won several honours during his time at
Turner's Cross and Hoops boss Michael O'Neill is delighted with his latest acquisition.

'Dan is an excellent professional and has won everything at Cork
City,' said O'Neill. 'He's one of the top performers in this league
and a player I've greatly admired.

'It's a testament to Shamrock Rovers that he's decided to come here and I believe he'll make a great contribution and will become a firm favourite with our fans.'

Meanwhile, Rovers will host Celtic in a friendly at Tallaght Stadium on Tuesday 23 February, kick-off 8.00pm.

Celtic's current first team squad includes Republic of Ireland captain and Tallaght native Robbie Keane as well as former Hoops' player Paddy McCourt.
