Cork City players meet to discuss future
Friday, 29 January 2010 16:31The Cork City players met this morning to dicuss Tom Coughlan's resignation as club chairman.
The Leesider's future is still in doubt because the FAI claim that they have not been directly informed of Coughlan's decision.
The deadline for qualifying for a licence for next season expires today and its believed that City still have signicant debts.
Meanwhile, Cork City have released another statement in relation to the ongoing saga at the club.
The club said: 'The administration team at the club is
continuing the restructuring process already underway in a bid to
ensure the financial stability of the club for the forthcoming season.
'Included in this process will be the implementation of a player salary cap of €750 per week.
'The club will be appointing an interim Chairman to facilitate the
smooth transition of ownership to those parties who have expressed an interest in taking over the club. In the meantime, General Manager Liam Meaney will continue to oversee the day-to-day running of the club.'
