PFAI training camp begins

A PFAI training camp got underway on Monday at the AUL Complex as the large number of League of Ireland players currently out of contract look for new employment.

Some of the players involved include Richie Baker, Jason Gavin, Shane Robinson, Neale Fenn Dave Rogers and Bobby Ryan.

Coach Trevor Croly took the session with Alan Moore and Matt Gregg assisting.

The 2010 League of Ireland season begins on 5 March but clubs have been reluctant to sign players due to major cutbacks in wage budgets.

Players such as Joe Gamble (Hartlepool), Stephen O'Flynn (Northampton Town) and Gary Dempsey (Darlington) have landed moves to English clubs, but others have not been so lucky.

The course is set to run for eight weeks.
