Miller only concern ahead of play-off
Tuesday, 10 November 2009 19:57Republic of Ireland midfielder Liam Miller was tonight undergoing a scan on a calf injury which could rule him out of the World Cup play-off clash with France.
The 27-year-old will be assessed tomorrow, but could be sent back to club Hibernian if he is unable to take his place in the squad.
However, Miller is manager Giovanni Trapattoni's only injury worry and if he is ruled out, the Italian will not call up a replacement.
Damien Duff is fully recovered from his latest fitness problem, an Achilles injury, and trained with his team-mates at Malahide today.
Elsewhere, France midfielder Abou Diaby has not been ruled out of their game his Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's assessment that he would be sidelined for three weeks.
'The tests he underwent this morning were satisfying. He still needs treatment but he is not out (of the playoff),' French federation spokesperson Francois Manardo told reporters on Tuesday.
'He is staying with us (at the training camp).'
On Sunday, French TV channel TF1 quoted Wenger saying Diaby would be sidelined for three weeks because of a calf injury.
Diaby was replaced after 23 minutes in Arsenal's 4-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.
