Derry City Football Club intend to take legal action against the FAI to secure league prize money and also the club's survival following the decision by the association to terminate the club's contract to participate in the League of Ireland.
The League have said that Derry broke regulations by holding secondary, unofficial contracts with players.
According to the FAI, Derry City officials will be invited to have talks with a delegation to explore how they can play senior football outside the Premier Division.
