Soccer · League of Ireland First Division

Kildare County 1-5 Shelbourne

Shelbourne ensured second place in the First Division league table and also home advantage in the play off against Sporting Fingal with an easy win against Kildare County who now look to have played their last game in the league.

David McAllister, David Cassidy and Anto Flood scored in a first half totally dominated by Dermot Keely's team.

Trevor Bowers scored what will surely prove to be Kildare's last ever goal in the league in the 68th minute but Shels warmed up nicely for that clash against Fingal with late strikes from Tony Griffiths and David McGill.

Kildare's financial problems could see them pull out of the First Division, they would face a play-off with Salthill Devon if they do decide to continue in the second tier.
