Duff injury worries heighten

Roy Hodgson has all but ruled Damien Duff out of Fulham's Premier League match with Wigan on Sunday, heightening worries that the winger will miss the Republic of Ireland's play-off with France.

The Fulham boss made the revelation ahead of their clash with Roma.

He had originally hoped that Duff would return this weekend.

But Hodgson said on Wednesday: 'I don't think there is much hope for Duff for the weekend.'

Ireland host France on Saturday week before venturing to Paris the following Wednesday for the return leg to see who qualifies for South Africa.
