The future of the Setanta Sports Cup may be in question following the postponement of the draw for next season's competition.
The draw had been due to take place in Dublin on Thursday 25 June, but in a statement released on behalf of the FAI, IFA and Setanta, it was revealed that the draw would not take place as planned.
The statement read: 'The FAI and the IFA today (22 June) agreed with Setanta Sports to postpone the draw of the 2009 Setanta Sports Cup, scheduled to take place on Thursday 2 June.
'This draw has been postponed at the request of Setanta Sports to give the company an opportunity to gain clarity around a number of market related issues it currently faces.
'In the interim, a meeting has been arranged with participating clubs in Dublin on the afternoon of 25 June.'
Setanta's future looks increasingly bleak after the financially troubled broadcaster lost the rights to the Barclays Premier League and SPL after they were unable to meet payment deadlines.
Setanta has around 1.2 million subscribers, 700,000 short of the 1.9million that industry experts believe they need to break even.
