Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers don pink shirts

Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers have jointly agreed to promote Action Breast Cancer Ireland by wearing a unique playing kit, supplied by Umbro, when the two teams meet in the big Dublin derby matches this season. The side's first clash is in Dalymount this Friday, kick-off 7.35pm.

The away team will wear a special pink and black kit sporting the Action Breast Cancer pink ribbon emblem on the rear of the shirt.

The shirt deal will raise €10,000 for Action Breast Cancer Ireland through sale of the limited edition shirts. 500 of these jerseys will be made available to each club and they will go on sale towards the end of May.

Shamrock Rovers will wear the kit on Friday night when they visit Bohemians in their first derby of the season.

Bohemians PRO, Darragh Ward, said: 'I am delighted that Bohemians has been asked to participate in this scheme. We are happy to assist the Action Breast Cancer Ireland campaign in any way we can.

'We are great rivals with Rovers on the pitch but with such interest in the derby games, they are an ideal opportunity to publicise worthy causes.'

Jim O' Malley of Action Breast Cancer Ireland was full of praise for both Clubs, and Umbro, who were instrumental in organizing the event.

He said: 'The kits look stunning and they have created a lot of discussion which obviously is good for the charity and for the clubs.

'I want to thank the boards of both clubs who were unanimous in their backing of the idea and the fans who are literally clambering for information on when and where the kit will be available.'

The special edition jerseys are scheduled to be available in the club shop in late May. A number of kits will also be on sale through the Action Breast Cancer Ireland website and through the Umbro FAI Store in Carroll's Gifts on Westmorland Street in Dublin city centre.

Both club's pink kits are identical except for the club crest and sponsor detail. The entire kit is designed as follows: pink jerseys with black trim, black shorts with pink trim and the
socks will be chosen for each fixture.
