Tottenham 0-0 Wigan Athletic

Tottenham Hotspur were booed off the field by their own fans following a goalless draw against Wigan Athletic which left the Londoners rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

A low-grade encounter of few chances belatedly came to life late on when, 17 minutes from time, Aaron Lennon strick a half-volley wide following a knock-down from fellow substitute Frazier Campbell.

Olivier Kapo and England striker Emile Heskey both went close for Wigan but a draw was about as much as the sides deserved.

Both teams had been booed-off at half-time following an opening period where Wigan and Austria midfielder Paul Scharner had come closest to scoring with a shot that was pushed behind for a corner by Spurs's Brazilian keeper Gomes.

Under-pressure Tottenham manager Juande Ramos tried to revive his team by bringing on Campbell for Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

And not long afterwards England midfielder David Bentley was replaced by Lennon, who'd barely been on the field before going down in the box under challenge from Maynor Figueroa. But no penalty was forthcoming.

A forgettable afternoon concluded with a series of wayward strikes from Kapo, Heskey and Henri Camara.
