Bray Wanderers 0-2 Galway United

Jay O'Shea returned to haunt former club Bray and guide Galway into the last four of the FAI Ford Cup.

In the Quarter Final replay at a rain drenched Carlisle Grounds, Jeff Kenna's charges put aside their Premier Division behind them woes to out play Wanderers.

Having dominated the first period, the visitors deservedly took a 37th minute lead in what was the fifth meeting of the clubs this season.

O'Shea slalomed into the left side of the box and created the angle to curl in a shot. It hit the far post and fell to the waiting Jonathan Keane who blasted a six-yard half volley to the net off the underside of the cross-bar.

The Green and White's went for broke straight after the interval with skipper Alan Cawley departing and former Tribesman Daryl Robson entering the fray in a 3-5-2 formation.

But United punished them in the 53rd minute with a cracking counter-attack.

Ciaran Foley sent Danish striker Jesper Jorgensen scampering clear down the left flank. He squared inside to O'Shea who turned into inside Gary Cronin and slotted past Alan Gough from 15-yards.

Moments later, John Lester should have put the result beyond doubt but blasted wide with just the keeper to beat.

Bray thought they'd won penalty on the hour as Andy Myler tumbled in the box after Seamus Conneely's challenge from behind but referee Alan Kelly waved play on.

Then four minutes later, substitute Jake Kelly teed up Irish U23 cap Paddy Kavanagh who sliced wide when well placed.

Earlier on the first half, it took a brilliant treble save by veteran Alan Gough to keep Wanderers level after just four minutes.

The keeper dived to stop ex-Seagull O'Shea's low drive and then recovered to thwart John Russell off the rebound. The ball ran loose to Seamus Conneely whose low drive was pushed out by the former United custodian.

Having been under the cosh, the Wicklow side finally rallied in the 25th minute.

Having won the ball, Derek Pender burst forward. Mark Duggan's through ball saw Andy Myler set-up Pender only for superb Alan Keane to make a last-gasp tackle.

Bray Wanderers: Gough; Pender, Doherty, Kenny, Cronin; Kavanagh (Dunphy 71 mins), Whelan, Cawley (Robson half time), Duggan; Myler, Rowe (Kelly 60 mins).

Galway United: Rogers; Conneely, Alan Keane, Fitzgerald, McCulloch; Jonathan Keane, Lester, Foley; Russell (Glynn 77 mins); O'Shea (Tierney 81 mins), Jorgensen (Faherty 86 mins).
