MCC approve Drogheda Utd stadium plan

Meath County Council have passed a stadium plan submitted by Drogheda United by a unanimous vote of 25-0.

The plan proposed includes an all-seater 10,000 capacity stadium which will be built in Bryanstown, Co Meath and will be visible from the toll plaza on the M1 motorway.

In a statement issued by the club, Chairman Vincent Hoey said 'I feel a sense of history today and I hope everyone will get behind us in our determination to see this stadium built as soon as possible.

'I would like to thank all the Meath County Councillors and officials and all who have helped us, including John Delaney and the FAI.'

The club also stated that it they are determined to get on with the project as soon as the usual planning permission issues.

It is believed the club hopes to be playing at their new ground for the 2010 season.
