FAI confirm Communications appointment
Monday, 28 April 2008 12:44The FAI have announced the appointment of Peter Sherrard as its new Director of Communications.
Mr Sherrard, who is currently Head of Communications with Ryanair, will take up his new role with the FAI from 13 May.
In this position, he will assume overall responsibility for the FAI's corporate communications and will lead the management of the association's media relations, corporate relations and website development.
The appointment comes at a busy time for the FAI. Besides the new international senior team management launch, Mr Sherrard will play a key role in the realisation of the FAI's development objectives including the new stadium, the development of the national training academy at Abbotstown, the eircom League of Ireland and increased funding for grassroots development.
FAI Chief Executive John Delaney said: 'We are delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Sherrard as the FAI's new Director of Communications. The FAI is doing a huge amount of work to promote and foster the game at all levels and we look forward to Peter's assistance and expertise in getting that message across effectively for the benefit of everyone involved in Irish football.'
