Givens calls up Bruce as cover

The Republic of Ireland soccer squad trained in Malahide this morning ahead of their friendly with Brazil on Wednesday.

Caretaker manager Don Givens has called up Alex Bruce of Ipswich Town because he was unable to get in contact with Andy O'Brien of Bolton Wanderers.

Shay Given and Damien Duff both sat out this morning's session to rest following their game with Newcastle United yesterday.

Stephen Reid's knee injury will be assesed in the morning, but it is unlikely he will make the starting XI.
