Minister Brennan visits Tallaght Stadium

Minister for Arts Sports and Tourism Seamus Brennan was in Tallaght today to visit the Tallaght Stadium which is due to become the home of Shamrock Rovers FC in 2009, writes RTÉ Sport's John Kenny.

The Minister was assured by South Dublin County Council that they had been in constant contact with the contractors and that work on the site would begin in a matter of weeks.

The first phase, which would complete the stand and finish ancillary works such as surrounds and the pitch, will be done by the end of the year and will cost €9million.

Minister Brennan recently announced a new round of Sports Capital Programme grants and South Dublin County Council will be making an application for funding for the project under the programme.
