Troussier takes charge of Japanese team

Former Japan coach Philippe Troussier is set become the general manager at Japan Football League side FC Ryuku, the club has announced.

Troussier, who had expressed an interest in the vacant Republic of Ireland managerial role, is expected to be unveiled by his new club tomorrow.

Earlier this month Troussier had held talks with Australia and was seen as favourite to take charge of the Socceroos before they decided to appoint Pim Verbeek. 

As well as Japan the 52-year-old has also managed French side Marseille and was most recently in charge of the Morocco national team.
