Parry laughs off rumours of Anfield split

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has rubbished reports of rift between co-owners George Gillett Jr and Tom Hicks.

The were suggestions over the weekend that a 'major split' between the pair was threatening their long-term plans for the club, the centrepiece of which promises to be a new 76,000-seat stadium in Stanley Park.

But Parry said on the club's official website, www.liverpoolfc.tv: 'I've just spent a couple of days with Tom and George and both of them were in good spirits working hard together on future plans for the club.

'I wouldn't normally comment on these things, but on the basis of what I've just seen, a story in one of the Sunday papers claiming there was some sort of problem between the two couldn't be wider of the mark.

'In fact, it's absolute nonsense.'
