Davis crashes out in China Open Wildcard

Andrew Higginson romped to a 5-0 win over Li Yan in the Wildcard round of the Sanyuan Foods China Open to set up a first-round clash with Stephen Hendry.

The 32-year-old from Widnes, who made his World Championship debut last year, proved far too strong for his Chinese opponent at the Beijing Students University Stadium and will face seven-time world champion Hendry on Wednesday.

Another Englishmen, Robert Milkins, is also through after completing a straightforward 5-2 victory over Lu Chenwei. Milkins will now face Wales' Ryan Day in the first round proper.

Rod Lawler set up a meeting with Masters champion Mark Selby as he saw off the challenge of Supoj Saenla by five frames to three.

But Mark Davis is out after losing out in the deciding frame to Tian Pengfei, despite posting his career best break of 143 earlier in the match. Tian's next opponent will be Ronnie O'Sullivan.
