Doherty misses out on Welsh Open

Ken Doherty has missed out on a place in the Welsh Open after losing 5-3 to Graham Dott in the final qualifying round.

Dott went into the 3-0 lead and the Irishman could not recover.

However, Fergal O'Brien has advanced to the tournament and will face Mark Williams after a 5-4 win over China's Li Hang.

Joe Swail and Gerard Greene missed out with Swail going down to Mark Davis 5-4 and Greene losing to Malta's Tony Drago 5-2.
