Veterans Steve Davis and Ken Doherty both failed to qualify for the China Open after suffering heavy defeats today.
Davis was beaten 5-2 in the fourth and final round of qualifying at Prestatyn by Preston's Stuart Pettman, while Irishman Doherty was thrashed 5-0 by 19-year-old Bristol player Judd Trump.
While the former world champions bowed out, this season's Shanghai Masters champion Ricky Walden booked himself another trip to the Far East, the Englishman clinching a 5-4 victory over Ireland's Michael Judge.
England's Stephen Lee also advanced, denying Jin Long a chance to perform in front of his home crowd in March, while Welshman Matthew Stevens' tough times continued as he slumped 5-4 to Liverpudlian Rod Lawler.
