Swedish boat Ericsson 4 leads the Volvo Ocean Race as the eight-strong fleet contests the second leg from Cape Town in South Africa to Cochin in India.
Skippered by Brazilian Torben Grael, the winner of the first leg, was one nautical mile clear of sister-boat Ericsson 3 with US-boat Puma Racing 32 miles off the lead.
Irish-Chinese entry Green Dragon was 59 nautical miles behind Ericsson 4 in fifth place.
The eight boats will cover 60,000kms over nine months, calling at 11 ports including Cochin and Qingdao, China.
