Ireland fans are getting a unique chance to support their team in this year's RBS 6 Nations thanks to a new initiative by Ireland team sponsor O2.

The 'Be The Difference' campaign lets fans record their own personal team talk for the Ireland team and already, and the competition is already hotting on www.bethedifference.ie.

The winning video will be played to the Irish team and also at Croke Park before the game againt Italy on Saturday.

Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll is supporting the idea both with the traditional few words but also via a new initiative: his twitter page.

He told irishrugby.ie: 'Winning the Grand Slam was a special experience for every member of the Irish squad. It was a huge motivation for us each time we took to the pitch, knowing the support we had behind us. Without doubt the supporters made the difference.

'A good team talk is essential for every side and the last minute before taking the field is the most important, so supporters should pick a couple of key points and then give it everything.'

O'Driscoll has also tweeted his support for 'Be The Difference': 'Make sure you register your support for us ahead of the 6 Nations and maybe get your name on a jersey. Visit bethedifference.ie to sign up', he told followers.

Not convinced?

BOD's next tweet, responding to a sceptical fan: 'It is me and my mention of bethedifference.ie is to generate support for the team. Have you checked out the website?! Cool idea.'
