Tony Buckley wil start at tighthead for the O2 Ireland Wolfhounds in their 'A' international against Scotland at Netherdale this Friday.

Ulster number eight Chris Henry will captain the team while Buckley gets a chance to stake a claim for a spot in the senior squad after John Hayes was forced to withdraw with a groin injury.

Munster forward Ian Nagle, a late call up to the ‘A’ panel, has also been handed a starting spot alongside Leinster’s Devin Toner in the second row.

Both Donnacha Ryan and Dan Tuohy, who were named in the original squad, have been ruled out because of injury.

Loosehead prop Brett Wilkinson and hooker Damien Varley will play alongside Buckley in the front row while Kevin McLaughlin and Willie Faloon are the starting flankers.

In the backs, Gavin Duffy – previously seen as one of several candidates for a place in the senior match-day squad due to Ireland's injury crisis at wing and full-back – drops into the 'A' team to play at full-back. Johne Murphy and Denis Hurley will start on the wings.

Leinster wing Fergus McFadden moves up to the senior squad due to the injury crisis with Ian Whitten replacing him in the ‘A’ squad for the trip to Scotland.

Eoin O’Malley and Nevin Spence are named at centre with Ian Humphreys and Tomás O’Leary named at out-half and scrum-half. O'Leary, surprisingly omitted from the senior panel, could also challenge for promotion to the senior squad if he performs.

The team will be coached by Eric Elwood and Anthony Foley.
