Munster's Conor Murray and Glasgow's Niko Matawalu have both been cited following their fiery RaboDirect Pro12 encounter at Scotstoun on Friday evening.

Murray has been cited for striking with an elbow, while Matawalu was cited for biting an opponent during Munster's 13-6 victory.

A hearing date has yet to be confirmed but should Murray be found guilty, he could potentially miss Ireland's Guinness Series International games with Samoa, Australia and New Zealand.

Munster have yet to react to the news but Glasgow Warriors issued a statement which read: "We believe a dangerous act of foul play was committed by a Munster player against Niko Matawalu during last night's game at Scotstoun.

“We have formally written to the citing commissioner to draw his attention to this.

“The matter is now with the citing commissioner and Celtic Rugby to review as part of their disciplinary process.

“Glasgow Warriors will be making no further comment whilst the matter is being investigated by Celtic Rugby."
