Munster's Felix Jones will be out of action for 'the immediate future' and remains under observation in hospital due to an injury sustained during Munster's Magners League victory over Connacht.

Jones was stretchered off the field after carrying the ball into a tackle by Connacht flanker Johnny O'Connor and incurring an injury to his neck ligaments in the 14th minute of the game at Thomond Park.

The entirely accidental incident resulted in Jones being attended to for a short period on the field by medical staff who placed him in a neck brace before he was carried off.

A Munster statement said that the Dublin-born full-back was 'immediately removed to hospital for examination and will remain there for continuing observation for a number days'.
