Joe Schmidt signs Leinster contract extension

Leinster coach Joe Schmidt has signed a one-year contract extension, meaning he will remain with the province until the end of the 2013/14 season.

Schmidt, 46, has led the province to back-to-back Heineken Cup triumphs as well as runners-up position in the last two league finals since joining from ASM Clermont Auvergne.

Schmidt said: “I'm lucky to be part of such a positive coaching team and to have the top quality support staff. The professionalism of the players is a real asset and they constantly challenge themselves and each other to improve."
