Ireland Under-20’s coach Mike Ruddock has named a new-look squad for the upcoming Six Nations championship.

Only two players, Lansdowne’s Peter Dooley and Peadar Timmin’s of UCD, have been retained from last year’s squad, while flanker Dan Leavy will captain the side.

Leavy played four times for the U20s in last year's U20 IRB World Cup and he is set to make his 6 Nations debut this spring.

Five other players selected who featured in last year's World Cup are Dooley, Timmins, Jack O'Donoghue (UL Bohemians), Adam Byrne (UCD), Alex Wootton (Garryowen).

Harrison Brewer (Terenure College RFC), the son of Mike Brewer, the 32-time capped New Zealander, has also been named in the squad.

In 2013, the Ireland U20s finished in third place in the championship with two wins and a draw.

Ruddock said: "We have a very competitive group this year with a number of players gathering invaluable experience with provincial A sides and in the Ulster Bank League.

"We have a good record at Dubarry Park and we will be looking to build on strong home form ahead of two difficult away fixtures.”

Ireland begin the campaign at home to Scotland on Friday, 31 February (Live on RTÉ Two).
