Ireland have lost 9-8 to hosts France in their fifth place play-off semi-final at the Junior World Cup.

Number 8 Ryan Murphy crossed for a try in the first half while Rory Scannell also landed a penalty kick.

However, three penalties from France scrum-half Baptiste Serin won it for the home side in La Roche-sur-Yon.
