Scarlets centre Jonathan Davies will replace injured Tom Shanklin with Wales coach Warren Gatland reverting to an otherwise first-choice team for Saturday's Cardiff clash with Argentina.

Shanklin broke his nose in last Friday's win over Samoa and the inclusion of Davies is the only change from the team beaten by New Zealand two weeks ago.

Davies starts at inside centre, with Jamie Roberts switching to 13.

‘Jonathan came on at inside centre on Friday when Tom was injured and he acquitted himself well,’ Gatland said in a statement.

‘That's his natural position, he plays there for his region and is comfortable there. Jamie is the more experienced player and more than capable of playing at 13 and we are looking forward to the continuation of the partnership from the second half last weekend.

‘With James Hook going so well at fullback it was important for us to continue his international development in that position.’

Uncapped Dragons flanker Dan Lydiate was named among the replacements, as was Ospreys centre Andrew Bishop, who was called into the squad on Monday.

Wales team to play international test against Argentina in Cardiff on Saturday, 23.0pm:

15 James Hook, 14 Leigh Halfpenny, 13 Jamie Roberts, 12 Jonathan Davies, 11 Shane Williams, 10 Stephen Jones, 9 Gareth Cooper; 1Gethin Jenkins, 2 Matthew Rees, 3 Paul James, 4 Alun-Wyn Jones, 5 Luke Charteris, 6 Andy Powell, 7 Martyn Williams, 8 Ryan Jones (captain).

Replacements: 16 Huw Bennett, 17 Duncan Jones, 18 Bradley Davies, 19 Dan Lydiate, 20 Dwayne Peel, 21 Andrew Bishop, 22 Tom James.
