Four Irishmen make ERC European Player of the Year long list

Four Irishmen have been included in the long list for the ERC European Player of the Year award.

Leinster’s Cian Healy and Sean Cronin, and Munster’s Paul O’Connell and Peter O’Mahony have been named on the 15-man list, while Ulster’s South African scrum-half Ruan Pienaar is also included.

Three players from reigning Heineken Cup champions Toulon have made the list, last year’s winner Jonny Wilkinson among them, while Clermont Auvergne have two players – Fritz Lee  and  Sitiveni Sivivatu  – included.

The winner will be named following the Heineken Cup final in May.
