Munster scrum-half Peter Stringer is to remain on loan with Bath for the remainder of the current season.

Stringer joined Bath in January as short-term injury cover for the injured Michael Claassens and made an immediate impact, scoring two tries on his debut.

A statement from Munster confirmed that Stringer will see out the season with Bath and read: "Following discussion between Munster Rugby and Bath Rugby and with the player’s representative, it has been agreed that Peter Stringer will remain with the Aviva Premiership club for the remainder of the current season.

"Stringer (35) joined Bath Rugby in January when the opportunity to play first team rugby consistently for Munster wasn’t forthcoming and as that situation still pertains, all parties are happy for that arrangement to continue."
