Biarritz's Benoit August has been banned for four weeks for stamping on Leinster's Jamie Heaslip during their Amlin Challenge Cup semi-final clash last weekend.

August was found guilty of stamping on the back of Heaslip's thigh at the ERC disciplinary hearings in Dublin on Thursday.

August, who was not represented at the hearing, has already announced his retirement at the end of the Top 14 season.

As Biarritz have not qualified for the league's play-offs, Benoit will be suspened for his final league match.

His team-mate, Imanol Harinordoquy, was left hugely frustrated for the suspension and took to Twitter to vent his frustrations, blaming Heaslip for having August cited without due reason.

Harinordoquy tweeted at Heaslip: "If you don't want to be walked on, don't play rugby.
