Hayes considering ban appeal

John Hayes and his advisors have said they will wait for the IRFU's full written report before deciding whether to appeal the prop's six-week suspension for stamping.

The Munster and Ireland prop was shown a first red card of his career last Saturday when he was judged to have stamped on Leinster's Cian Healy.

Hayes and Munster are said to be disappointed with the severity of the suspension, because the disciplinary panel accepted that Hayes' stamp was not deliberate, yet deemed the offence to be at the higher end of IRB recommended sanctions.

It looks as if Hayes would have been handed a nine-week ban had it not been for his blemish free previous record.
