Medal success for Irish rowers

Ireland brought home two medals, a silver and a bronze, from the Coupe de la Jeunesse, the European Junior Rowing Championships, at Vichy, France over the weekend.

The silver medal came in the women's junior pair won by Galway's Zoe Mannion and Aifric Keogh who finished second to Britain. Three weeks ago, rowing as Coláiste Iognáid, the pair won the junior title at the Irish National Rowing Championships held in Cork three weeks ago.

Ireland's bronze medal was won in the junior men's quadruple scull. Shane O'Driscoll, Paul O'Donovan, Peter Grogan, and Jonathan Mitchell are drawn from three different clubs which stretch the length of the country:

O'Driscoll and O'Donovan, who is just 15, row for Skibbereen, while Grogan is from Offaly and Mitchell from Coleraine Academical Institute.
