Gordon Lord Byron remains on course for a tilt at the Champions Mile at Sha Tin racecourse in Hong Kong on 4 May.

The three-time Group One winner was unable to show his best form in the Darley T J Smith Stakes at Randwick in Australia on Saturday but trainer Tom Hogan is happy with how his six-year-old has come out of the race.

The Byron gelding was successful in the Group One George Ryder Stakes on his first start in Australia last month and the County Tipperary handler is expecting him to improve on better ground.

He said: "He has come out of the race in good form and it has not taken as much out of him as we first thought.

"He will leave (Australia) on Tuesday and we will prepare him for Sha Tin.

"Craig Williams is otherwise engaged so he will be partnered by a new jockey.

"Zac Purton (champion jockey in Hong Kong) has been in touch with us regarding the ride and we are happy to have him aboard."
