A field of 16 has been declared for Saturday's Darley July Cup at Newmarket, with the Eddie Lynam-trained Slade Power heading the betting.

Lynam is also likely to be represented by Sole Power if the ground conditions don’t turn unsuitably soft at the July Course.

The two stablemates were both successful at Royal Ascot, with Sole Power scoring over five furlongs in the King's Stand Stakes, while Slade Power notched up a first Group One win over a furlong further in the Diamond Jubilee.

They form part of a strong Irish team with Aidan O'Brien running Due Diligence, second to Slade Power at Ascot, the once-raced Cougar Mountain and Fountain of Youth.

Another exciting raider is the Spanish star Noozhoh Canarias, who showed tremendous speed when sixth in the 2000 Guineas on the Rowley Mile.

American trainer Wesley Ward, who has made his name in Europe by plundering juvenile races at the Royal meeting, runs Undrafted. He will be ridden by Frankie Dettori and the pair enjoyed a spin at the track on Thursday morning.

Heading the home defence is Roger Varian's Aljamaaheer, just behind Due Diligence at Ascot.

The likes of Rex Imperator, Moviesta, Hot Streak, Justice Day and Astaire have all been declared, with Neil Callan on the latter after his extended stay in Hong Kong ended.
