Group One-winning sprinter Maarek heads 14 runners in the Duke of York Clipper Logistic Stakes at York on Wednesday.

Having previously enjoyed successful stints with trainers David Nagle and Barry Lalor, last year's Prix de l'Abbaye winner joined Evanna McCutcheon for the start of the new campaign.

He was disappointing on his return to action at Cork, but ran more promisingly when runner-up at Naas last month and he will concede weight to each of his opponents on the Knavesmire.

There are plenty of familiar names in the line-up, including Jim Goldie's two stable stars Hawkeyethenoo and Jack Dexter.

Moviesta showed quality form as a three-year-old for Bryan Smart, including a victory at Glorious Goodwood, and finished a creditable fifth on his return in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on Guineas weekend.

Henry Candy has a good record with sprinters and Music Master looked ready for a step back up in class when scoring decisively on his Warwick comeback.

Clive Cox's Es Que Love, the Stuart Williams-trained Eton Rifles and Boomerang Bob from John Hills' yard also feature.

The only three-year-old in the line-up is Kevin Ryan's Astaire, winner of the Gimcrack at York and the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket.

He returns to sprinting after having his stamina limitations exposed when fifth in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury last month.
