Denis O'Regan's role as main rider to John Ferguson is at an end.

The Youghal native rode 250 times for Ferguson since 2011, notching 55 winners including Ruacana in the Grade One Future Champions Finale Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow last January.

However, Ferguson has decided he would like to widen his options in the saddle, according to O'Regan, ending his unofficial partnership with the stylish rider.

"John informed me last week that he would like to use other jockeys," O'Regan told Racinguk.com.

"I look forward to riding for John again in the future, if called upon.

"I was always a freelance anyway and will try to ride for as many trainers as I can.

"I've been in worse situations before, but there are not many jobs in jumps racing."
