Sire De Grugy is one 12 horses still in contention for the BetVictor Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham on Wednesday.

With reigning champion Sprinter Sacre on the sidelines, Gary Moore's Tingle Creek, Desert Orchid Chase and Clarence House Chase winner is set to go off a hot favourite for the feature event on day two of the Festival.

Despite Sprinter Sacre's absence, champion trainer Nicky Henderson still has a strong hand, with Tingle Creek third Captain Conan set to be joined by stable companion Kid Cassidy, who beat Sire De Grugy at Cheltenham in November.

The Irish challenge is headed by the Willie Mullins-trained Arvika Ligeonniere, who secured his third victory from four starts this season in the Tied Cottage Chase at Punchestown last month.
Henry de Bromhead has Festival favourite Sizing Europe and Special Tiara engaged.

Sizing Europe won the Arkle in 2010 and the Champion Chase 12 months later and has filled the runner-up spot in the last two renewals of the two-mile championship.

Last year's Arkle runner-up Baily Green could represent Mouse Morris.

The Irish team is completed by Tony Martin's Benefficient, although he appears more likely to take in the longer Ryanair Chase next Thursday.

The dozen entries are completed by Hinterland, Module, Somersby and Wishfull Thinking.
