Last year's winner Saddler's Rock is one of 14 declarations in Thursday's Artemis Goodwood Cup.

John Oxx's five-year-old will need to put a disappointing display in the Ascot Gold Cup behind him to make it back-to-back wins in the Group Two over two miles.

The highest-rated horse in the field is Luca Cumani's Mount Athos, who continues his preparation for the Melbourne Cup.

Impressive winner of the Ormonde Stakes back in May, he was fifth in the Hardwicke Stakes when last seen over a trip short of his best.

Saeed bin Suroor is launching a strong team at the race with Ahzeemah, Cavalryman and Colour Vision, who returned to form when fourth in the Gold Cup.

Brown Panther made a successful reappearance at Pontefract and continues to build towards the Irish St Leger, in which he was so narrowly denied last season.

Fresh from the victory of Novellist in the King George, Andreas Wohler sends over Altano, who was making good late headway to finish fifth in the Gold Cup, while John Gosden runs the progressive Caucus.

Askar Tau, No Heretic, Number Theory, Glen's Diamond, Repeater and Mister Impatience complete the field.
