Progressive handicapper Sir John Hawkwood has been supplemented to the tune of £40,000 for the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot on Saturday.

The Michael Stoute-trained four-year-old is on a hat-trick after wins at Chester and most recently York, although this represents the Sir Percy gelding's stiffest test to date.

Jane Cecil has two challengers in Frankel's brother Noble Mission and Thomas Chippendale, winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at this meeting 12 months ago, where he had his stablemate immediately behind him.

Ektihaam, six-length conqueror of Thomas Chippendale in a Listed race over course and distance in May, represents Roger Varian, while Red Cadeaux, third to Sea Moon last year, could try again for Ed Dunlop although he has been declared to run in the Prince of Wales's on Wednesday.

John Dunlop's Aiken was fourth last year and would be another aiming to go a couple of places better.

Melbourne Cup hope Mount Athos stands his ground for Luca Cumani and Hammerfest, second in the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap last year, is an interesting contenders for John Hammond.

Dandino, Mukhadram, Songcraft and Universal complete the 12 possible contenders.
