Kelso meeting called off
Updated: Monday, 16 Jan 2012 10:43
This afternoon's meeting at Kelso has been abandoned due to frost, but the scheduled meetings at Navan and Kempton will go ahead as planned.
Clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski called a morning inspection after two successive nights of frost and as temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight, she was forced to admit defeat.
She said: "There's no prospect of it picking up enough to race.
"It is still -5C now and at this time of year the sun might get brighter but we're not forecast any higher than 2C or 3C today.
"We would need to be above 0C for four or five hours and that is not forecast to happen until 11am.
"It's too risky to ask people to travel for the very slimmest of chances."
