David Simcock has yet to make a final decision on whether his star colt Dream Ahead will be left in the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Monday's confirmation stage.

The Diktat colt won three of his four starts as a juvenile, claiming Group One glory in the Prix Morny in France and in Newmarket's Middle Park Stakes and finished up as joint top rated juvenile alongside Greenham winner Frankel.

Simcock had hoped to return to Headquarters with his pride and joy on Saturday for the season's first Classic, but his participation is in serious doubt due to the likelihood of unsuitably fast conditions.

‘I've got to speak to the owner today and then we'll make a realistic decision,’ said Simcock.

‘We'll look at the forecast for the week ahead and go from there, but we only had five minutes of rain on Saturday, which doesn't really count.

‘We'll look at other options. There has been no decision on what race he will run in if he doesn't go to Newmarket.’
