The much-vaunted Frankel faces five rivals when he bids to get his Classic campaign off to a winning start in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

Henry Cecil's colt heads the ante-post markets for the 2000 Guineas and the Derby having enjoyed an unbeaten juvenile campaign, turning in notable victories in the Royal Lodge at Ascot and in the Dewhurst at Newmarket.

Among his Group Three rivals this weekend is stablemate Picture Editor, who won his first two starts last year before being turned over at odds-on at Newmarket.

Marco Botti saddles dual winner Excelebration, while the Richard Hannon-trained Coventry Stakes scorer Strong Suit bids to bounce back after a slightly disappointing end to the last campaign.

Hannon is also represented by Vanguard Dream, with Barry Hills' Haydock maiden winner Shropshire completing the select field.

The two defections from the confirmation stage were Jim Bolger's Glor Na Mara and Godolphin inmate Neebras, who disappointed at Newmarket on Wednesday.
