Cecil's Frankel heads Epsom contenders

Frankel heads 125 hopefuls going forward for the 2011 Investec Derby at Epsom in June following this week's scratching stage.

Last season's joint champion two-year-old, winner of the Dewhurst Stakes, is one of four possibles representing trainer Henry Cecil.

The four-times Derby-winning handler also has Yarmouth maiden scorer First Mohican and the unraced duo Flash Of Intuition and World Domination in the premier Classic.

Aidan O'Brien has his usual strong team entered and among his 21 engaged are Criterium International hero Roderic O'Connor, Recital, a five-length winner of the Group One Criterium de Saint-Cloud, and Seville, who was second in the Racing Post Trophy.

Among the well-known owners chasing the prize are Andrew Lloyd-Webber, represented by the dual winner Treasury Devil, and Michael Owen, whose home-bred Brown Panther won his only start last year.

Godolphin's 18 entries, split between trainers Saeed bin Suroor and Mahmood Al Zarooni, include Saamidd, winner of Doncaster's Champagne Stakes, and the promising duo of Badeel and Maywood.
