All the gaps came for Workforce as the Michael Stoute-trained juvenile came from almost last to run away with the opening Electrolux Professional EBF Maiden Stakes at Goodwood.

Held up near the tail of the field by Ryan Moore, the King's Best colt (3-1 favourite) made light work of weaving through a bunching field, hitting his stride approaching a furlong out.

Once at the head of affairs there was no stopping Moore's mount as he quickened easily and won going away from Oasis Dancer, six lengths to the good.

Reacting to the victory, bookmakers’ quotes range from 20-1 to 33-1 for the 2000 Guineas.
