Punjabi has been patched up following his fall in the Christmas Hurdle - and could next run in the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton in February.

The winner of the ‘Fighting Fifth’ Hurdle at Wetherby was chasing the second leg of the £1million pound WBX Triple Crown in the Grade One event at Kempton on Friday.

Nicky Henderson's five-year-old was still travelling nicely before he failed to take off properly at the second-last flight.

Henderson said: ‘He needed stitches and had cuts and bruises, but he's OK.

‘I'd think the Kingwell might be the next race for him.’
